Polish ambassador resigns in protest against government
Poland’s ambassador to China, Jakub Kumoch, has announced his resignation in protest against political developments in the country.
According to TodayPress TV, the Polish news outlet Interia reported this.
The diplomat announced his decision in a post on his account on the social media platform X.
“Given the developments taking place in the country, I have concluded that it is no longer possible for me to continue serving as the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland. As of today, I have submitted my resignation and a request to be recalled from my post,” Kumoch said.
Marcin Przydacz, head of the International Policy Bureau at the Polish President’s Office, voiced support for the ambassador’s decision, describing it as a responsible move in defence of the country’s democracy and international standing.
It should be noted that tensions surrounding Poland’s Constitutional Tribunal have further deepened the political confrontation in the country. Amid these developments, President Karol Nawrocki also cut short his visit to Senegal and returned home.
