BREAKING: Martial law could be declared in Poland
Polish opposition politicians have said they suspect Prime Minister Donald Tusk is preparing to declare martial law in the country.
TodayPress TV reports that members of the Sejm, Przemysław Wipler and Sławomir Mentzen, have made public a letter sent by a deputy chief of the Polish Police to the heads of all regional police departments, including the Warsaw police commander.
The letter, reportedly sent on October 29, instructs police units to operate under an enhanced state of readiness from November 2 to 8.
The document also reportedly includes an order to equip police officers with special crowd-control equipment, automatic weapons and other tactical gear intended for preventing mass unrest.
It should be noted that this information is based on the letter published by opposition politicians. It has not yet been confirmed that placing police forces on heightened alert is connected to any plan to declare martial law.
