Mirziyoyev thanks Ilham Aliyev in Ankara
Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has thanked Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev for his contribution to strengthening fraternal ties among Turkic peoples and developing relations within the Organization of Turkic States (OTS).
TodayPress TV reports, citing Trend, that the Uzbek presidential press service announced this.
Mirziyoyev made the remarks during his address at the OTS summit in Ankara.
“I would like to express my deep gratitude to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, His Excellency Mr Ilham Heydar oglu Aliyev, for the important work carried out by Azerbaijan during its chairmanship of the Organisation to strengthen fraternal ties among Turkic peoples and elevate our relations to a new level,” he said.
Mirziyoyev stressed that cooperation among Turkic states was becoming increasingly important amid changes in the international relations system, intensifying geopolitical competition and armed conflicts in regions surrounding the Turkic world.
According to him, instability in neighbouring regions creates risks not only for security but also for trade and economic ties, transport links and development prospects.
The Uzbek president emphasised that the OTS, which brings together countries with rich natural resources and significant economic potential, had become an influential platform for global development, mutual trust and practical partnership.
He also called on member states to strengthen cooperation in order to achieve shared strategic goals and advance the interests of Turkic states on the international stage.
