US President Donald Trump’s administration is seeking to ease the sanctions imposed by the European Union (EU) on Belarus.

According to TodayPress TV, the information was reported by POLITICO.

According to the report, Washington is putting pressure on Lithuania to ease restrictions on Belarusian potash fertiliser exports.

The main goal of the United States is to provide American farmers with cheaper fertiliser and reduce dependence on imports from Canada.

However, European officials oppose the initiative. They believe that easing sanctions could strengthen the position of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.
