Armenia is preparing to sign a contract with the company that wins a tender to be held in Turkey as part of the Ani Bridge restoration project.

TodayPress TV reports, citing Armenia’s Hraparak newspaper, that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan made the announcement while speaking to journalists after a government meeting.

He said the decision to hold the tender on the Turkish side had been taken to simplify the project’s implementation procedures.

The Armenian side will sign a contract with the company selected following the tender.

According to Pashinyan, the necessary procedures will be completed in the near future, after which restoration work on the historic bridge will begin.

The prime minister added that the two sides had previously agreed to carry out the restoration of the Ani Bridge as a joint Armenian-Turkish project.
