A fire has broken out at the historic Eagle’s Nest building in Bavaria, Germany, which was used by Adolf Hitler. One person has been arrested on suspicion of deliberately starting the blaze.

According to TodayPress TV, the German newspaper Bild reported the incident, citing a police spokesperson.

The newspaper said the fire broke out on the evening of October 23. By the time firefighters arrived at the scene, the building was already engulfed in flames. A police representative said the structure had suffered serious damage and that restoration appeared unlikely to be straightforward.

As police officers were heading to the scene, they encountered a person travelling on a motorcycle. The individual was arrested on suspicion of arson. According to Bild, the suspect is a resident of Berlin.

The Eagle’s Nest is located on Mount Kehlstein in the Bavarian Alps, at an elevation of 1,834 metres above sea level. The building was constructed by the Nazi leadership in 1937–1938 and presented to Adolf Hitler as a gift for his 50th birthday.
