Ebola death toll exceeds 4,700

The number of confirmed Ebola cases in the Democratic Republic of the Congo has risen to 9,816.

According to TodayPress TV, the figures were provided in a statement by the country’s Ministry of Communication and Media.

“Response measures are continuing in eight provinces and 66 health districts across the country. A total of 9,816 confirmed cases have been recorded, of which 2,635 patients have recovered and 4,757 have died. The contact-tracing rate has risen to 89.1%,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, Kenya’s Ministry of Health reported a second Ebola-related death yesterday. A 65-year-old woman died from the virus.
