Historic globe damaged at Pentagon, sparking jokes
Staff working for US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth dropped and damaged a historic globe dating back to World War II while attempting to move it into his office.
According to TodayPress TV, The Washington Post reported the incident.
The incident reportedly took place on February 3. Hegseth’s staff had been tasked with relocating the globe, which belonged to US General Dwight Eisenhower, to another location within the Pentagon.
The newspaper reported that historical artefacts are usually moved within the building under the supervision of experienced specialists. However, on this occasion, the staff lost control of the globe while carrying it, causing it to fall and strike its base. As a result, a hole several inches wide appeared in its fragile covering near Antarctica.
The incident quickly became a topic of discussion and sparked jokes at the Pentagon.
