Japan has scrambled F-15 fighter jets for three consecutive days in response to potential threats approaching its airspace over the East China Sea and the Pacific Ocean.

TodayPress TV reports, citing Japan’s Ministry of Defense, that emergency air operations were conducted on October 30, 31 and November 1. The country’s Southwestern Air Defense Force remained on high alert around the clock.

The heightened activity comes amid continued tensions with China. Particular attention is focused on the situation around Japan’s southwestern islands, located near Taiwan.

Earlier in October, Japan also scrambled fighter jets after Chinese military drones and a reconnaissance aircraft conducted flights near Okinawa. At the time, the United States and Japan were holding large-scale military exercises involving tens of thousands of troops.

Tokyo says its armed forces remain on high alert 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to protect Japanese airspace.
