She once represented Zelensky, now suspected of treason
Former Ukrainian presidential press secretary Yuliia Mendel is suspected of treason.
TodayPress TV reports that Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU), in cooperation with the Prosecutor General’s Office, has formally notified Mendel of the suspicion in absentia. She faces charges of treason under martial law, as well as justifying and denying Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine.
According to Ukrainian law enforcement authorities, expert assessments and investigations found that Mendel’s public statements and social media posts had damaged Ukraine’s international reputation and justified the Russian authorities and the full-scale war launched against Ukraine.
The SBU said that Yulia Mendel is currently outside the country. Measures to bring her to justice are ongoing.
