The general assembly of judges of Poland’s Constitutional Tribunal has confirmed a quorum despite only eight of the institution’s 15 judges attending the meeting.

TodayPress TV reports that the session was broadcast by “TVP Info”.

All eight judges in attendance voted in favour of confirming the quorum. Anna Korwin-Piotrowska, who declared herself acting president of the Constitutional Tribunal, explained that, in her view, three of the institution’s 15 judges are currently not entitled to exercise their powers.

Therefore, the quorum requirement of two-thirds of the Tribunal’s full membership should be calculated on the basis of 12 judges rather than 15.

The assembly subsequently approved the Tribunal’s estimated revenues and expenditures for 2027, as well as the composition of disciplinary panels that will consider the possible lifting of the immunity of acting Constitutional Tribunal President Bogdan Swieczkowski and his deputy, Bartolomiej Sochanski.
