Will Zelensky travel to Moscow or invite Putin to Kyiv? Ukrainian leader calls proposals “destructive”

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has described the proposal to invite Russian President Vladimir Putin to Kyiv as destructive.

TodayPress TV reports that Zelensky is convinced Russia would reject such an invitation and that a phone conversation would not bring the two sides any closer to an agreement to end the war.

“There is no point in inviting Putin to Kyiv because they will not come. Inviting them when you know they will not come is a destructive step. It is the same as inviting me to Moscow,” Zelensky said.

According to the Ukrainian leader, the two sides need to meet, hold negotiations and take the first step towards a ceasefire in order to reach an agreement to end the war.
