Russia could step up its attacks on Ukraine following the US midterm elections.

TodayPress TV reports that “Bloomberg” cited sources as saying this.

According to the publication, Moscow no longer believes that US President Donald Trump can force Ukraine to sign a peace agreement on Russia’s terms. This assessment is reportedly prompting Russian President Vladimir Putin to prolong the war, intensify strikes on Ukraine and increase pressure on European countries supporting Kyiv.

The sources said the Kremlin is also taking into account the possibility that Trump’s position could weaken after the US congressional midterm elections. For this reason, Russia is expected to seek new ways to persuade Washington to further ease sanctions against Moscow.

A source close to the Kremlin said Russia’s main objective is to convince Trump that joint business cooperation between the US and Russia is possible even before the war in Ukraine ends. The strategy is reportedly intended to follow the example of an agreement on diesel fuel announced in early october.
