Military saluting rules may be changed in the Armenian army.

TodayPress TV reports, citing Axar.az, that the Hraparak newspaper reported this.

According to the publication, soldiers may be instructed to salute without touching their headgear. Currently, a military salute is performed by raising the hand to the headgear. This rule is in line with the tradition of the Soviet and Russian armies. The new rule is expected to align with practices followed in NATO member states’ armed forces.

The Armenian Ministry of Defence, however, said that no such decision had been made. At the same time, it confirmed that discussions on the matter are underway.
