How could Israel transport military equipment here?!
A CNN article about Azerbaijan published during the Iran-Israel war was completely wrong.
According to TodayPress TV, Azerbaijani Presidential Assistant and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration Hikmat Hajiyev made the remarks during a special session titled “The language of peace and combating disinformation,” held as part of the Baku Culture and Media Dialogue Platform.
The presidential aide said the claims were technically impossible.
“How could Israel transport military equipment here?! If this had happened, it would have been very easy to detect by satellite or other means. These claims were implausible. Azerbaijan’s geographical position made such claims impossible. Disinformation is spread not only on social media but also in professional media.
“This was part of a disinformation campaign directed against Azerbaijan. In other words, not only journalists and professional media outlets but also diplomats became targets of this disinformation.
“If journalists write about Israel’s search-and-rescue mission in Azerbaijan’s southern regions, they must understand the terminology of a search-and-rescue mission. Such a mission involves destroyers [warships], special forces soldiers and a logistical base, which includes other support elements and so on.
“First of all, you see them spreading this information without taking any responsibility. Sometimes they approach foreign ministries and say that the information has been refuted by an official source, yet it continues to be used and no apology is issued,” Hajiyev said.
