The New York Knicks, the reigning NBA champions, have become the first defending champions in the past 15 years to start a new season with three consecutive defeats.

TodayPress TV reports that the last time this happened was during the 2011–2012 season. At the time, the Dallas Mavericks, who won the championship in 2011, lost their first three games of the following season.

The Dallas Mavericks were first defeated by the Miami Heat 105–94, then lost 115–93 to the Denver Nuggets, before falling 104–102 to the Oklahoma City Thunder in their third game.

The New York Knicks have also made an unsuccessful start to the new season. They lost their opening game 106–100 to Philadelphia, followed by a 107–103 defeat against the Boston Celtics.

On the night leading into October 26, the New York Knicks faced the Orlando Magic at home and lost 111–102.

As a result, the reigning champions have failed to win any of their first three games, recording one of the NBA’s unwanted milestones of the past 15 years.
