Napoli will come to Baku in search of points: Allegri outlines his target

Napoli head coach Massimiliano Allegri is aiming to pick up points against Azerbaijani champions Sabah to strengthen the club’s chances of qualifying for the UEFA Champions League knockout play-offs.

TodayPress TV reports that the Italian coach made the remarks at a press conference ahead of Napoli’s away match against Portuguese side Porto in the fourth round of the Champions League league phase.

Allegri said he believes 10 points will be enough to secure a place in the next stage:

“This is not our last chance. I think 10 points will be enough to qualify for the play-offs. The match against Porto is important, but getting a result against Manchester City is an extremely difficult task. Therefore, we will fight for qualification in our matches against Club Brugge, Sabah and Viking.”

Napoli are currently 24th in the Champions League league-phase standings with three points. Sabah have the same number of points but sit 25th, behind the Italian side on goal difference.

The Sabah–Napoli match is scheduled to take place in Baku on January 20, 2027. The teams will meet in the seventh round of the league phase.
