Romania’s Ministry of Internal Affairs has carried out a rescue operation to save seven Turkish sailors aboard a tugboat involved in an accident in the Black Sea near the resort town of Neptun.

TodayPress TV reports that the information was released by Romania’s Ministry of Internal Affairs.

“The Turkish-flagged tugboat Ayaz Bey issued an international distress signal at around 04:20 after colliding with the Antigua and Barbuda-flagged vessel Mentor. Two Turkish tugboats, Ayaz Bey and Ramazan Bey, had been towing the Mentor, which had previously been damaged in Ukrainian waters near the port of Odesa, to Türkiye. There was no crew aboard the vessel being towed at the time of the incident. During the night, adverse weather conditions caused the towlines to break. Although the lines were subsequently reconnected, the Ayaz Bey tugboat collided with the Mentor,” the statement said.
