Hikmat Hajiyev: “For Azerbaijan, the conflict with Armenia is over”

For Azerbaijan, the conflict with Armenia is over, and Baku will continue its efforts to consolidate lasting peace in the region.

TodayPress TV reports that Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration Hikmat Hajiyev made the remarks during his speech in Khankendi as part of a visit by members of the diplomatic corps to Karabakh and Eastern Zangazur.

Hajiyev noted that Azerbaijan is adapting to living in peace and that progress is being made toward normalizing relations with Armenia.

According to him, peace is not only the absence of conflict, but also the building of trust, the reconstruction of territories and the development of economic ties.

Hajiyev also described the latest meeting between Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan as constructive. He said the sides had agreed to advance the peace agenda, strengthen mutual trust and develop trade and transport links between the two countries.

The presidential aide also said there were positive signals regarding the TRIPP project. According to him, Azerbaijan hopes that the project will be implemented soon.

Hajiyev said the construction of railways and highways in the Baku-Zangilan direction is almost complete, adding that the project is planned to be completed by the end of this year and during the following year.

He also said that attention is currently focused on the Nakhchivan direction. He noted that integrating Nakhchivan into regional transport and logistics projects would create new opportunities for Azerbaijan, Armenia and the wider Eurasian region.

Hajiyev also announced that members of the diplomatic corps had expressed a desire to visit Nakhchivan and said that such a visit would be organized in the near future.
