Iran’s September scenario: Will Israel’s holiday turn dark?

The threat of a new full-scale war between Iran and Israel has once again come to the fore. The Israeli side claims that Tehran could launch a large-scale attack on Israel during the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah. Israeli media have pointed to September 11–13 as possible dates for an escalation. There have also been claims that internal tensions and popular unrest in Iran could flare up again.

Is another confrontation possible, and if it happens, how would it differ from the previous one?

Political scientist Sadraddin Soltan spoke to TodayPress TV about the issue.

The analyst noted that the issue of war or military tensions will remain on the agenda until a peace agreement is signed between the US and Iran:

“It is possible that Iran could launch some form of attack against Israel during the Rosh Hashanah holiday. However, such an attack could be carried out not directly by Iran, but by Hezbollah in Lebanon, the Houthis in Yemen, or armed groups that have split from Hamas in the Gaza Strip. However, it is no secret that the likelihood of Iran directly attacking Israel during the holiday period is currently low. Such a move could have serious consequences and lead to Iran facing greater condemnation on the global stage. In this regard, the likelihood of Iran bombing Israel during the New Year holiday is not particularly high.”

According to the political scientist, on the other hand, the possibility of protests breaking out inside Iran and clashes between the authorities and protest groups cannot be ruled out:

“Numerous protests were held in Iran from the end of December last year until mid-January this year. The demands voiced during these protests have still not been addressed. The Israel-Iran and US-Iran wars have further deepened existing problems in the country and created new ones.”
