Is Qatar trying to save Iran? Major attack plan looms
Qatar is trying to persuade Iran to agree to concessions over its nuclear programme.
According to TodayPress TV, citing Axios, mediators led by Qatar are seeking to prevent Washington and Tel Aviv from launching large-scale strikes against Iran after the US midterm elections.
Under the proposal, Iran would have to allow UN inspectors access to nuclear facilities that have been subjected to bombing. In return, Tehran would receive a partial easing of sanctions and access to frozen financial assets.
According to the report, if no agreement is reached, US and Israeli officials expect a week-long bombing campaign targeting Iran’s leadership, energy and nuclear facilities, as well as the country’s infrastructure.
Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei is expected to be asked to approve the proposals in the coming days.
