Okan Buruk excited for Champions League: “It won’t be easy for anyone!”

Galatasaray head coach Okan Buruk has shared his thoughts ahead of the club’s UEFA Champions League league phase opener against Sporting.

TodayPress TV reports that the Turkish coach emphasized that the Champions League is a special tournament for both coaches and footballers.

“The Champions League is starting. This is a tournament that coaches and footballers all over the world dream of. Tomorrow, we will play our first match.

“We will face a very strong opponent. Sporting reached the quarter-finals last season and, apart from the match against Arsenal, they did not lose at home. Although they have suffered some absences in their squad, the new players who have come in to replace them are also of very high quality. Our opponent is a very mobile team that attacks quickly, and we are expecting a difficult game.

“But we are also a strong team. We have important absences in our squad, but 11 players will take the field, and we also have players on the bench who can strengthen the team. I have full confidence in my players. We will do everything we can to win,” Buruk said.

It should be noted that the Sporting–Galatasaray match, which will be played at the Jose Alvalade Stadium in Lisbon, will kick off at 23:00 Baku time.
