Psychological warfare at Mercedes: How did Hamilton undermine his teammate?
Otmar Szafnauer, the former head of the Force India, Racing Point and Aston Martin teams, has revealed how seven-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton, who now drives for Ferrari, applied psychological pressure on Nico Rosberg during their years together at Mercedes.
TodayPress TV reports that Szafnauer said this on the High Performance Racing podcast:
“Rosberg liked to prepare before races by playing with a ball. It probably helped him relax and train his reactions. You know what Lewis would do? He would hide the ball.
“He also knew that Nico might need a short break and a trip to the bathroom before a session. He would go into the drivers’ bathroom and stay there, preventing Rosberg from going in.”
