Lavrov and Rubio to meet over Ukraine

A possible meeting between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session would provide an opportunity for a detailed discussion of the situation surrounding Ukraine.

TodayPress TV reports that Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said this in an interview with RIA Novosti.

“Of course, this will be an appropriate opportunity and an appropriate framework for discussing the entire situation in detail,” the diplomat said.

It should be noted that on September 15, Lavrov said he planned to meet with Rubio on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session. However, he did not specify which issues he would discuss with the US Secretary of State.

The next session of the UN General Assembly began in New York on September 8. As part of the session, the traditional high-level week will be held. The general debate is scheduled for September 22–26 and September 28.

The Russian delegation will be headed by Sergey Lavrov. His address is scheduled for September 26.
