Erdoğan congratulates Ilham Aliyev on Victory Day
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has sent a congratulatory letter to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on the occasion of Victory Day.
TodayPress TV reports that the letter reads:
“Mr President, my dear Brother,
On the occasion of the sixth anniversary of Victory Day, marking the liberation of Azerbaijan’s ancient lands that had been under occupation for 30 years, I extend my warmest congratulations, on behalf of my nation and myself, to Your Excellency and all my Azerbaijani brothers and sisters.
Azerbaijan’s just struggle, crowned with a Great Victory, has also become a source of pride for the entire Turkic world. The rapid progress in the reconstruction and revival of the liberated territories fills us all with pride.
Drawing strength from our unbreakable bonds of friendship and brotherhood, based on the principle of “One nation, two states”, which we elevated to the highest level with the Shusha Declaration, I am fully confident that we will continue to work in close cooperation and solidarity, both in our bilateral relations and on the international stage.
As a result of our coordinated efforts to establish lasting peace, security and stability in our region, the South Caucasus is now being recognised not as a region of conflict and instability, but as a region of cooperation and development.
I pray to Almighty God to grant mercy to our heroic martyrs who laid down their lives in the struggle for their homeland’s independence. I commemorate their cherished memories with respect and reverence and express my gratitude to our veterans.
My dear Brother, I would like to take this opportunity to wish you good health and happiness, and the brotherly people of Azerbaijan a prosperous and peaceful future. Please accept my most sincere regards”.
