President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev attended the groundbreaking ceremonies for the library and Innovation Centre buildings at Karabakh University in Khankendi on november 7.

TodayPress TV reports that the head of state was briefed on the facilities and amenities to be provided in the buildings.

It was noted that the library will serve as a key infrastructure facility supporting education, scientific research and innovation, expanding access to modern information resources, and fostering a student-centred academic environment. It will meet the educational, research and information needs of students and staff, help develop independent learning and research skills, and support the academic activities of the university’s faculty.

The four-storey building, designed to meet modern standards, is expected to feature functional reading halls accommodating approximately 1,100 students simultaneously, as well as spaces for individual and group study, meetings and academic collaboration.

In addition to meeting the university’s academic needs and strengthening its capacity, the library will also serve as an information resource for the wider regional community. It is expected to promote academic discussions, the exchange of knowledge and experience, stronger ties between the university and the public, and the development of Karabakh’s social and cultural environment.

It was also noted that the Karabakh University Innovation Centre will be a key infrastructure facility for developing the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem, promoting the practical application of research findings, and supporting modern technologies and innovative ideas. The centre will help students develop creativity, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, support their innovative initiatives, and expand cooperation between the university and industry.

The centre will also play an important role in supporting initiatives that contribute to the socio-economic development of the Karabakh region, developing innovative solutions tailored to local needs, and fostering cooperation between the university, government agencies, the private sector and other partners.

It is expected to help establish a culture of innovation at the university, turn scientific knowledge into economic and social value, and promote technological development, entrepreneurship and a knowledge-based economy in the Karabakh region.
