China deploys four more “eyes” in space as new mission ends successfully
China’s Ceres-2 launch vehicle has successfully placed four satellites into orbit.
TodayPress TV reports that the information was announced by the rocket’s manufacturer, “Galactic Energy”.
According to the report, the rocket lifted off from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northern China. It placed the satellites into a sun-synchronous orbit at an altitude of 535 kilometres. The satellites are designed for ocean observation, meteorological data collection, university research and space situational monitoring.
According to the company, the launch was intended to verify the results of troubleshooting measures, structural modifications and ground tests.
It should be noted that “Ceres-2” (Gushenxing-2) is a medium-class rocket consisting of three solid-fuel stages and one liquid-fuel upper stage. It has a liftoff mass of approximately 100 tonnes and a payload capacity of 1.3 tonnes to a sun-synchronous orbit at an altitude of 500 kilometres.
