Children given drug - laced sweets under the guise of “Halloween”
Fifteen children aged between one and six were given packets of sweets containing psilocybin, a hallucinogenic substance, during Halloween celebrations in the United States.
TodayPress TV reports, citing “Newsweek” magazine, that the incident took place on october 31.
According to the report, the children were collecting sweets from their neighbours’ homes in accordance with the American Halloween tradition when they were given packets of gummy candies at one of the houses.
The parents accompanying the children noticed the unusual packaging and suspected that the sweets might contain prohibited substances. They contacted the police. Subsequent laboratory tests confirmed the presence of psilocybin in the candies. It remains unclear whether any of the children actually tasted them.
Police have detained two male suspects. During a search of their home, officers found drugs, packaging materials, a rifle, ammunition and a handgun, in addition to the sweets.
The investigation is ongoing.
