The European Union imported a record volume of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Russia during the first nine months of 2026.

TodayPress TV reports, citing Euronews.

According to the report, the EU imported a total of 12.14 million tonnes of Russian LNG worth €7.88 billion during the reporting period. This represents a 9.5% increase compared with the same period last year.

France, the Netherlands and Portugal were the main buyers of Russian LNG.

The increase in imports comes as the EU prepares to impose a complete ban on Russian LNG. The ban is expected to enter into force on January 1, 2027.
