Head of the Chechen Republic Ramzan Kadyrov said:

“Dear Ilham Heydarovich, Azerbaijan and the Chechen Republic have always been connected by many ties. Personally, for me, this is reflected in the brotherly relationship between Azerbaijan’s President Heydar Aliyev and Akhmad Kadyrov, the first president of the Chechen Republic within the Russian Federation. May God rest them both in peace. Both strived for peace, stability and good-neighbourly relations. That is why I have come here not to visit neighbours, but to visit brothers.

“On behalf of myself and the entire Chechen people, I would like to once again express my deepest condolences over the crash of the Baku–Grozny aircraft in December 2024. This is a shared tragedy.

“We sincerely share the grief of the brotherly Azerbaijani people and pray for the souls of all those who lost their lives.

“Dear Ilham Heydarovich, I would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate your people on the resolution of the Karabakh issue. I am confident that peace and stability will prevail in the region.

“The World Judo Championships are being held in Baku these days. I would like to congratulate your athletes on their worthy results. The Vladimir Putin Olympic Judo Training Centre operates in the Chechen Republic. I am confident that joint sporting events would be beneficial.

“Ilham Heydarovich, I thank you for your warm hospitality. I sincerely wish the Azerbaijani people peace, stability, security and prosperity.

“Once again, thank you for your warm welcome.”

President Ilham Aliyev said:

Thank you for your kind words. Once again, welcome. You rightly noted that our parents laid the foundations for modern relations between our peoples. However, as I have said, Chechens and Azerbaijanis have lived in friendship and mutual understanding for centuries and have always supported one another.

Our great leaders played a key role in bringing our peoples even closer during the modern stage of development. The remembrance of Akhmad Haji Kadyrov in Chechnya and Heydar Aliyev in Azerbaijan demonstrates that our peoples remain faithful to their traditions and way of life and hold in high regard those who laid the foundations for modern development.

I congratulate you once again. Based on my observations, what I have seen and the reports I have received, I know how rapidly the Chechen Republic is developing under your leadership. This genuinely makes us happy. You have achieved great success in strengthening stability and security, as well as in economic and social development.

This is not your first visit to Azerbaijan. I know that Azerbaijan is a close country to you. I am confident that we will continue to welcome you to Azerbaijan frequently in the future. Once again, welcome.

Head of the Chechen Republic Ramzan Kadyrov: Thank you very much.

President Ilham Aliyev: Thank you.
