Flick openly backs Lamine Yamal: “I want him to win the Ballon d’Or”

Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has said he will support the team’s forward Lamine Yamal at the 2026 Ballon d’Or awards ceremony.

TodayPress TV reports that Flick made the remarks to the Catalan club’s official website.

The German coach stressed that he considers the young star’s desire to win the award completely natural:

“I am not talking about Kylian Mbappe, I am only talking about Lamine Yamal. Lamine is sincere, confident and has made a perfect start to the season. He wants to win the Ballon d’Or, and that is completely normal for a footballer. I will support him.”

It should be recalled that the 2026 Ballon d’Or awards ceremony will be held in London on October 26. At the 70th edition of the ceremony, the winner will be determined by a vote of 100 journalists representing countries ranked among the top 100 in the FIFA rankings.
