Another shock for Barcelona: Flick also misses out on shortlist

Four of the five nominees for the 2026 Men’s Coach of the Year award are Spanish.

TodayPress TV reports that the shortlist for the main individual award for coaches includes Mikel Arteta of London’s Arsenal, Luis Enrique of France’s Paris Saint-Germain, Unai Emery of England’s Aston Villa and Luis de la Fuente, who coaches the Spain national team.

The only non-Spanish coach among the nominees is Belgian Vincent Kompany, who manages German club Bayern Munich.

Meanwhile, Hansi Flick, who led Barcelona to the Spanish league title, failed to make the final five.

The winner will be announced at the Ballon d’Or awards ceremony organised by France Football, which will take place on October 26.
