Azerbaijan national judo team takes first place in Poland with 11 medals
Azerbaijani judokas have finished the international tournament held in Krakow, Poland, with 11 medals, TodayPress TV informs, citing the Azerbaijan Judo Federation.
The athletes won 7 gold, 2 silver, and 2 bronze medals. With this result, the national team took first place in the team standings of the competition.
Competing among the seniors, Balabay Aghayev (66 kg) defeated all his rivals to claim the gold medal. In the U-16 age category, Agil Naghiyev (55 kg), Huseyn Shikhaliyev (66 kg), and Mahammadali Mehdi (81 kg) also climbed to the highest step of the podium.
Earlier, the boys' national team in the U-18 age category won 7 medals, including 3 gold, 2 silver, and 2 bronze. Ali Abdullayev (60 kg), Huseyn Shikhaliyev (66 kg), and Omar Atayev (81 kg) won gold, Dunyamali Asdanli (66 kg) and Ruslan Kazimov (+90 kg) won silver, while Ravan Mammadli (55 kg) and Ali Jafarov (66 kg) claimed bronze medals.
