The United Kingdom will deploy Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jets and an A400M military transport aircraft to Saudi Arabia to help protect cities and critical infrastructure from attacks by Yemen’s Houthi rebels.

TodayPress TV reports, citing the UK Ministry of Defence.

According to the report, the fighter jets will carry out defensive missions only. They will protect Saudi airspace against drone and missile attacks without taking part in strikes against the Houthis.

The A400M aircraft will be used to transport military supplies and British advisers.

In addition, London has extended the mission of an aerial refuelling aircraft previously deployed to Saudi Arabia by a further 90 days.
