Drone alert in the Netherlands: What was targeted?

Unidentified unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have been spotted in the northern Netherlands, around the port of Eemshaven and the East Groningen region.

TodayPress TV reports, citing RTV Noord.

Reports of drone sightings have also come from Meiden, Schiedam and Zuidbroek. Police representatives said they were investigating the reports.

A common feature of all the areas where drones were spotted is the presence of critical infrastructure facilities.

Eemshaven is home to liquefied natural gas storage facilities, data centres and power plants. Zuidbroek, meanwhile, hosts a major nitrogen production plant that processes imported natural gas for the needs of the Dutch gas network.
