Erik ten Hag, technical director of FC Twente and former Manchester United manager, has spoken about his departure from the English club, saying that the management failed to honour the promises it had made to him.

TodayPress TV reports, citing The Athletic.

Addressing the criticism surrounding his departure, ten Hag said:

“If I had had one year left on my contract, I would not have continued. That is why I said I needed another year and that we had to discuss everything. The management promised me loyalty, support, open communication and a united effort. But those promises were not fulfilled.”

Ten Hag took charge of the Red Devils in April 2022. After winning the FA Cup in the spring of 2024, Manchester United extended his contract by a further season. However, he was dismissed in October of the same year.
