Deadly massacre near Sudan border: More than 150 killed – VIDEO
More than 150 people have been killed in drone strikes on a market in the Abyei administrative area, located on the border between South Sudan and Sudan.
TodayPress TV reports that the information was released by Yohanna Akol Ngor, head of the information department of the Abyei administration in South Sudan.
“A large number of people have been killed at Amiet Market — 153 so far. The fire at the market is still burning, so the number of people suffering burn injuries continues to rise,” he said.
The drone strikes on the market were carried out on the morning of October 19. Akol Ngor blamed the Sudanese Armed Forces for the attack.
According to eyewitnesses, the strikes hit the section of the market where fuel was sold. The Rapid Support Forces (RSF), which are fighting against Sudan’s authorities, obtain fuel from the market for their units deployed in areas of Sudan where combat operations are underway.
The oil-rich Abyei region has a special administrative status and is disputed between Sudan and South Sudan. Its final status remains unresolved following South Sudan’s declaration of independence in 2011.
