Atlético alarm over Álvarez: Star forward misses training again
Atlético Madrid’s Argentine forward Julián Álvarez has missed the team’s training session for the third consecutive day, TodayPress TV reports.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the club management has attributed Álvarez’s absence to him not feeling well.
However, his failure to participate in training has attracted attention amid reports that the Argentine wants to leave the club.
It should be recalled that Atlético CEO Miguel Ángel Gil Marín previously strongly opposed Barcelona’s attempt to sign Álvarez. The forward is also reportedly seriously concerned about the developments surrounding his career this summer.
The Argentine made his first appearance for Atlético of the new season on August 23. Álvarez came on in the second half of Atlético’s home match against Villarreal in the second round of La Liga, which ended in a 2–2 draw. His return to the pitch was met with a negative reaction from the fans, with Atlético supporters booing the forward throughout the match.
