US sanctions have severely restricted Iran’s financial capabilities. Tehran is even struggling to fund its own military.

According to TodayPress TV, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent made the statement in a post on his X account.

Bessent said that the “Economic Isolation Operation” launched by Washington was draining the Iranian regime’s financial resources and putting pressure on the armed groups it supports.

According to the secretary, Tehran is struggling to transfer funds, while the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) is unable to pay its personnel.

Bessent added that US sanctions were also restricting Iran’s ability to finance the Houthis, Hamas and Hezbollah.

“We will not allow Tehran to continue financing its campaign of terror,” he stressed.
