Pentagon general leaked classified information to the media – What did he reveal about Ukraine and Iran?

A senior US military general has admitted to leaking classified information concerning Ukraine and Iran to journalists.

According to TodayPress TV, citing an investigative report, the Axios news outlet reported the development.

According to the report, Lieutenant General Brett Sylvia, who was removed from his position at the Pentagon, provided classified information to two journalists from different media organisations over the course of a year.

The report states that the general admitted his guilt after failing four polygraph tests. He is accused of sharing information with the media without authorisation.

According to the investigation report, the leaks began in June 2025. Sylvia did not coordinate his meetings with journalists with the Pentagon’s public affairs office and failed to ensure that the information he shared was reviewed in advance.

It should be noted that US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth removed Lieutenant General Brett Sylvia from his position as Director of the Strategic Plans and Policy Directorate of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The Atlantic magazine had previously reported his dismissal.
