US warns Baltic states: Tone down anti-Russia rhetoric
US officials have advised the Baltic states to moderate their strong statements about threats from Russia.
According to TodayPress TV, citing sources, the Reuters news agency reported the development.
According to the report, in recent weeks Pentagon officials have warned that confrontational statements against Russia by several NATO countries, particularly Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, could negatively affect European security.
During bilateral meetings with the Baltic states, US representatives stressed the importance of softening their rhetoric.
The Pentagon, however, declined to comment on the matter, citing the confidential nature of the bilateral meetings.
