Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has arrived in the Republic of Cyprus for a working visit.

TodayPress TV reports, citing the Cypriot government, that Abbas is scheduled to hold talks with Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides during the visit.

The visit will last from October 29 to 30.

Meanwhile, the Foreign Ministry of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) has voiced its objection to Abbas’s visit.

“In the spirit of this strong historical solidarity, we would like to emphasise our expectation that the legitimate rights and sensitivities of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus be taken into account. Given the reality that two distinct peoples and two separate states exist on the island, this visit, conducted without taking the will of the Turkish Cypriot people into consideration, has been met with sadness by the Turkish Cypriot community,” the ministry said in a statement published on its X account.
