“If we believed them, Qatar would own all of Israel”: Doha delivers a sharp response
Qatari authorities have firmly rejected allegations of interference in Israeli elections and urged Israeli politicians not to turn Doha into a scapegoat.
TodayPress TV reports that Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majed bin Mohammed Al Ansari made the statement.
“We reject the allegations made by some Israeli politicians. Following this week’s elections, they have launched another disinformation campaign to drag Qatar into political disputes. They have accused Qatar of bribing Benjamin Netanyahu (the prime minister — ed.), Israel’s left-wing forces and now Arab voters. If these claims were to be believed, it seems Qatar would own all of Israel,” he stressed.
The Foreign Ministry spokesperson described such allegations as “both ridiculous and dangerous.” According to him, the repeated references to the emirate in election campaign rhetoric point to an “excessive obsession” among certain Israeli politicians.
“Qatar should not be used as a scapegoat for political failures. Rather than trying to shift the focus onto Qatar, they would do better to concentrate on their own voters, improving people’s daily lives and repairing the damage they have inflicted on the region,” the statement said.
