Araghchi seeks to undermine Trump’s political prospects
Iran is prolonging peace negotiations in an effort to prevent US President Donald Trump from securing a diplomatic success ahead of the midterm elections scheduled for November 3.
TodayPress TV reports, citing Reuters, that Tehran believes time is working in its favour.
Trump is facing growing pressure to make progress towards ending the war and is seeking to demonstrate tangible results before the elections.
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has said Tehran’s proposal concerning the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz remains on the table and that exchanges of messages through mediators are continuing.
