Shock transfer: Morata set to play in Segunda!
Former “Real Madrid” and “Chelsea” forward Álvaro Morata is close to leaving Italian club “Como” and joining Spain’s “Leganés” on loan, TodayPress TV reports.
The information was reported by insider Fabrizio Romano.
The deal is reportedly close to completion, with the parties currently working on the final details to formalize the transfer.
According to another insider, Gianluca Di Marzio, the main obstacle to the transfer is the 33-year-old forward’s high salary. For this reason, “Como” may continue to pay part of the player’s wages.
Morata made 30 appearances in all competitions last season. He scored just one goal and provided two assists in those matches.
According to the Transfermarkt portal, the player’s market value is estimated at €6 million.
The Spanish forward’s contract with “Como” runs until the summer of 2029.
It should be noted that Morata has played for clubs including “Real Madrid”, “Chelsea”, “Milan”, “Galatasaray”, “Atlético Madrid” and “Juventus” during his career. “Leganés” compete in Segunda, Spain’s second division.
