Clippers set NBA record with $30 million fine

The $30 million fine imposed on the Los Angeles Clippers is the largest financial penalty ever handed to an NBA team, TodayPress TV reports.

The NBA fined the Clippers $30 million for violating salary-cap circumvention rules in connection with the Kawhi Leonard case.

Previously, the largest team fine in NBA history had been imposed on the Minnesota Timberwolves. The club was fined $3.5 million in 2000 for secretly arranging a contract with Joe Smith.

The $30 million penalty imposed on the Clippers is approximately 10 times larger than the previous record.

It should be noted that Clippers owner Steve Ballmer’s fortune is estimated at approximately $152.4 billion.
