Azerbaijan’s parliament to convene to discuss key issues

The next plenary session of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis will be held today.

TodayPress TV reports that lawmakers will discuss 13 items on the agenda.

The agenda includes the following:

1. A draft law approving the “Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of Azerbaijan and the Secretariat of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, the Kyoto Protocol and the Paris Agreement on Climate Week 4 and the 30th Meeting of the Adaptation Committee.”

2. A draft law approving the “Treaty on Allied Relations between Azerbaijan and the Kyrgyz Republic.”

3. A draft law approving the “Agreement between the Government of Azerbaijan and the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic on International Road Transport.”

4. A draft law approving the “Second Additional Agreement on Amendments to the Agreement of October 11, 2022, between the Government of Azerbaijan and the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic on the Establishment of the Azerbaijan–Kyrgyzstan Development Fund.”

5. A draft law approving the “Host Country Agreement between the Government of Azerbaijan and the Non-Aligned Movement Youth Organization concerning the Secretariat of the Non-Aligned Movement Youth Organization.”

6. A draft law amending the Civil Code, the Customs Code and the laws “On Service and Civilian Weapons,” “On the Police,” “On Operational-Search Activities,” “On the List of Items That May Belong to Certain Participants in Civil Transactions and Whose Circulation Is Permitted Only Under Special Authorization (Items with Restricted Civil Circulation),” “On Hunting,” “On Export Control” and “On Telecommunications.”

7. A draft law amending the laws “On the Suspension of Inspections in the Field of Entrepreneurship” and “On Environmental Impact Assessment” (third reading).

8. A draft law amending the Labour Code and the law “On Aviation” (first reading).

9. A draft law amending the law “On Technical Regulation” (first reading).

10. A draft law amending the laws “On Enforcement” and “On the Securities Market” (first reading).

11. A draft law approving the Civil Service Code and addressing its entry into force and related legal regulation (second reading).

12. A draft law amending the legislation on service in state tax authorities, labour pensions, the status of military personnel, military service, and diplomatic service, including amendments under Law No. 1074-VIQD dated December 22, 2023 (second reading).

13. A draft law amending the Tax Code and legislation concerning the status of military personnel, the police, service in customs authorities, service in prosecution authorities, service in Azerbaijan’s internal affairs bodies, intelligence and counterintelligence activities, service in justice authorities, service in migration authorities, and service in emergency management authorities (second reading).
