“They wasted that money!” — Jürgen Klopp’s comments spark debate

Germany head coach Jürgen Klopp has admitted that he advised Liverpool against signing midfielder Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen.

TodayPress TV reports that Klopp told FullTime Report:

“I heard they wanted to sign him. I called them and said that the Bundesliga is different from the Premier League and advised them not to sign Wirtz. But they insisted and signed him from Leverkusen anyway. It’s not that Wirtz is a bad player. It’s just that when I watched him at Leverkusen, I knew it would be difficult for him to succeed in the Premier League because the intensity here is completely different. They won’t admit it, but now they regret paying such crazy money for him. If they had listened to my advice, none of this would have happened.”

It should be recalled that the midfielder joined the English club in the summer of 2025. Klopp had coached Liverpool until that time.
