Azerbaijan and EU discuss key issues on cooperation agenda

On September 10, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov received European Union (EU) Special Representative for the South Caucasus Magdalena Grono, TodayPress TV reports.

During the meeting, the main issues on the agenda of Azerbaijan-EU cooperation, prospects for the development of bilateral partnership, as well as the current situation in the region and efforts to strengthen regional peace and stability were discussed.

The importance of high-level mutual visits and contacts in terms of advancing the Azerbaijan-EU agenda and expanding it across various areas was highlighted.

The further development of the institutional and legal framework of Azerbaijan-EU relations, the conclusion of negotiations on the bilateral Partnership Priorities document, as well as prospects for the negotiation process on a new bilateral agreement were discussed.

During the meeting, information was provided on steps being taken to ensure peace and security in the South Caucasus and towards normalization and confidence-building between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

The importance of the discussions held within the framework of the meeting between the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia in Bishkek in August of this year in terms of advancing the regional peace agenda was emphasized.

The meeting also included an exchange of views on work being carried out in the fields of energy and communications in the region, as well as other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.
