US drone shot down - IRGC announces
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has announced that another US MQ-1 unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) was intercepted and destroyed over Qeshm Island.
TodayPress TV reports that the information was released by the IRGC’s press service.
According to the statement, the drone was shot down by a modern air defence system operating under the command of the country’s integrated air defence network.
The destroyed aircraft was identified as an MQ-1 series reconnaissance and strike drone belonging to the US military. According to Iran, this was the 16th American UAV to have been destroyed.
In its statement, the IRGC claimed that US reconnaissance missions had failed. The organisation said its forces continuously monitor the activities of opposing aircraft and the flight routes of unmanned aerial vehicles.
